BRAND IDENTITY – WEB DESIGN – ILLUSTRATION

Fun fact: Mel of Mel Tata Photography was one of my very first clients! She reached out to me early early in my brand design career, and shoutout to her for trusting me to create a brand for her. At the time, her style was very woodsy and rustic, with lots of trees, juniper, and pine sprigs. Here’s a glimpse of that brand design.

I won’t lie - while this brand design worked at the time, looking back, I am so excited that I’ve come so far. Last fall, Mel reached out for a rebrand, and shoutout to her for trusting me with a REBRAND! Her photography style had evolved to something much more graphic, colorful, and bold, and I couldn’t wait to dive in and give her a fresh new brand design. Let’s take a look.

This is Mel’s original logo that I designed for her back in 2019. ^^^ Ooof. I do still like it, and I like that I can see my illustrative style starting to emerge here, but the typography and layout are not what I would choose to do now for a client. I love that my style has evolved! Let’s take a closer look at the rebrand process and what we decided to change.

We decided to go with a bold color palette that reflect Mel’s fun style, and bring a new vibe to her branding. Shades of teal, red, apple green, bright red, and tangerine all blend together to create a beautiful combination of bright color.

For her logo, Mel and I collaborated to find the perfect bold combination. She had an idea of what she wanted (a strong contract between thick and thin lines, something not too minimalist), so I had a vision to use a very bold serif typeface and curved lines to build a logo that would fit together like a puzzle. This logo I then converted to a secondary and monogram version (horizontal and monogram).

I also drew some beautiful custom flower illustrations that Mel could use for her Instagram highlight covers, photo overlays, and website.

When we began building a new website, it was a joy to plug in these new elements! Let’s take a peek.

If your brand is in need of a strong, illustrative foundation with lots of details for you to use in your branding materials, I am your PERSON. Read more about the process here and FAQs here, and then fill out this contact form!
