How to Launch Your New Brand

Every fall, I buy a new cozy sweater. I have lots of sweaters (seriously, way too many for any one person), but as the weather grows cold and crisp, it feels like a rite of passage to buy a new one. Putting together that first fall outfit and stepping out into the brisk weather to the coffee shop to buy a hot maple latte is a feeling like no other – it’s an embrace of the change of season, a physical acknowledgement of fresh, beautiful things, and did I mention it’s a major confidence boost?

When you launch your new brand, I want to give you the tools to have that same experience.

Picture this: the day has finally arrived. Sunny, lovely, and your coffee tastes even better than usual (probably).

An email just came through with a link from your designer to your new brand package.

All of your logos, colors, illustrations, and tools are there, along with a handy style guide on how to use them.

Your heart does a little flip-flop as you look through your beautiful new brand – you have everything you need now to present your business to the world with confidence and joy!

To embrace a new season in your business, and step into the next phase with self-assurance wearing a beautiful, fresh new outfit, if you will.

The only question now is, where should you start?

First, decide which channels you want to use to launch your new brand, whether that’s through email, social media, or in person at an event or shop.

It may be that you want to announce your new brand slowly and organically, spread out over time, by introducing your new colors, fonts, and logos into your social media feed and website as you create new content - not necessarily all at once. That’s great!

Or you may want to plan a big, fun announcement with all the bells and whistles! Picture an Instagram Reel or an enthusiastic post on your social media, or through email. How fun would that be? It’s completely up to you and what works best for your business. I even encourage you to ask your designer for advice if you’re undecided – even before hiring one, talk about any needs you might have for creating marketing graphics. These could be templates or ready-made graphics!

Second, make sure you have all the tools you need for your launch and for a smooth process. Allow yourself some grace and some time to prepare – there’s no rush!

With those caveats being said, let’s dive into some ideas for launching your beautiful new brand.

IDEA 01:

If you are launching your new brand through email, first make sure to upload all of your new brand materials to your email marketing service. Personally, I love Flodesk* (get 50% off your first year if you use that link!),as they make it really easy to send branded emails. Make sure all of your colors are set up with the HEX codes you were given, your brand fonts are incorporated, and your beautiful new logo is sitting proudly at the top of your email. Then write a little announcement message and let your adoring audience know that you have a brand new look for your business! They’ll be so excited to hear from you and to see your beautiful new brand – especially because you took the time to let them in on your fun news and you’re inviting them to celebrate with you.

IDEA 02:

If you are launching or announcing your new brand through social media, this will be a two-fer. That is to say, a two-step process.

First, you’ll of course be slowly incorporating your new brand into your social media’s feed (whether that’s Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or all three) by creating new graphics and posts as you go with your updated colors, fonts, illustrations, and logos.

Second, I always encourage my clients to do a fun announcement through Stories, Reels, or grid posts. Let your followers know you came, you saw, you invested, and now you’ve leveled up in a major way! This is a great approach if you have an engaged following that often hears from you, and loves getting fun updates like this. Let your people celebrate with you!

IDEA 03:

If you are launching in person, at an event or a pop-up shop or a market, you’ll want to have all the branded physical collateral on hand at your table or booth!

That means ordering business cards (if your designer has created one for you, or designing your own using your brand materials), plenty of branded signage, tags, thank you cards, and any other branded items you may need. (Need a head start on thank you cards but don’t want to start from scratch? Check out my template shop!).

You can even order merchandise! Think branded t-shirts, hoodies, ball caps, knit beanies, keychains, stickers, magnets, mugs…. The possibilities are vast. You’ll be fully prepared to showcase your new brand to customers in person, and perhaps even send some branded items home with them to spread the word even more.

At the end of the day, launching your new brand will be a process that’s completely and fully up to you as it should be. Never try to force a launch that doesn’t feel right for your brand – your audience knows you and will know whether you’re being true to your own values or ‘faking it’. Plan a brand launch that feels the most aligned with your values and goals, and don’t be afraid to show off a little if that’s where your heart leads. After all, you took the steps to invest in a beautiful brand that fully illustrates who you are as a business, and it’s important for your audience, both potential and existing, to see that. Step out in confidence, and enjoy that fresh new feeling!
