Working with Nicole Yang

A month or so ago, I was invited to take part in a giveaway over on Ruth Eileen's blog (she is an amazing photographer located right here in New England - I encourage you to check out her work on Ruth Eileen Photography!). This giveaway included design time working with Nicole Yang, the art director of Southern Weddings magazine! You could ask her to make stationary, logos, etc. So I entered, definitely not expecting to win - I don't know about you, but I NEVER win things - and, lo and behold, I actually won the giveaway! We got in touch and things took off from there.

I asked Nicole to help me design some business cards. I printed up a gazillion cards on Vistaprint years and years ago, but they have outdated information on them now, and they're much too basic. I had to use one of the company templates, and the cards no longer reflected my style. So I sent Nicole my logo, colors, fonts, and she had me write down some information and goals about my business to get a feel of what these cards should look like.

Soon she was sending me prototypes and coming up with the cutest ideas. I decided to go with a vertical option, with all my information on the front and one of my watercolors on the back. Don't they look insane!?

Nicole suggested printing on Kraft paper when I go to print, to keep that colorful yet rustic look of my shop (the embroidered burlap artwork especially inspired her.) I love that idea SO much, but I also love how these look with the clean white background, also echoed in my shop. Decisions, decisions!

Can't wait to get these printed up and out into the void! I love that she included a 'share the love' feature on the front, encouraging recipients to share either their projects from my DIYs or the way they wear/use their products from my shop. Love love love!
