Finding new ways to utilize crochet in fiber and textile art is one of my favorite things to do. Here I machine-stitched the edges of a coffee bag and crocheted directly into the burlap to create a new texture.
These handmade, hand-embroidered pieces are going to be part of a very special display in a few months. Stitching over patterned fabric is a favorite technique of mine - adding that three-dimensional textile element to flat fabric is SO fun. Just another form of textile art that I just love.
And last - upcycling old T-shirts. I love doing this. Right now I have an excess of embroidery thread, and going through the tattered cardboard box of colors to pick the ones that would most compliment the shirt is so relaxing. For the pumpkin orange tee, I chose leaf green, gold, mahogany, and cream.
I may post a more involved how-to on this soon - who knows? Time is one thing I don't have much of anymore - at least daylight time. Perhaps I'll snag a few early morning hours of natural light to photograph a quick DIY. Stay tuned!
