All you need is:
- A wooden dowel (length and width are up to you! Mine was about 12" long and 1/2" circumference)
- Yarn scraps, ribbon scraps, fabric strips, lace, etc.
- Cotton thread or twine for hanging
Cut your scraps into 24" lengths.
Tie the lengths to the dowel as follows: fold each length in half, lining up the ends evenly. Place the loop over the dowel, wrap the ends underneath the dowel and pull them through the loop. Pull tight to secure!
Repeat for all the strips and lengths you have, alternating colors and textures any way you like.
When you're finished, snip off any excess or uneven strands to polish the look a little bit. You can get creative here, snipping a triangle shape or asymmetrical line of fringe, but I wanted mine to be parallel to the dowel. Must be my left brain kicking in.
Tie the cotton thread to the dowel on either end of the knotted scraps, and voila! Hang it anywhere you wish. Mix up the colors and materials for your own twist on this easy piece of artwork. Make several pieces and hang them in a line for a modern display. Have fun!
