Today I'm taking you on a mini apartment tour! I didn't really feel like I could do this in Arkansas, because that apartment was so dark and hard to take photos in, and it was also hard to keep cute, but anyway NOW I live in a big, bright apartment on the 2nd floor of an old house in historic Manchester. Out the kitchen window you can see an old mansion a few streets away with an old carriage house attached and plenty of gables and trim. The apartment itself has old wood trimmings, a beautiful archway into the living room, a tiny front closet, and even a gas stove. Actually, don't misunderstand - I strongly dislike the gas stove. All it's good for is boiling my tea water extra quickly, it seems.
Anyway, I didn't take a ton of photos. I was probably rushing for work and didn't have time to take more. Also you'll notice my room is quite messy. Okay, enough dithering. Let's get started!
This is the living room. Isn't it cozy? It's almost done - I've been keeping my eye out for a big rug and a bookshelf, but other than that it's pretty much finished. I loved adding little touches of handmade coziness - that bunting was actually meant to be temporary, as I took photos of it for a DIY I was writing, but it ended up looking so perfect I left it.
I adore that wall of windows! Not so much the ugly radiator.
And here we have the monster gas stove in the kitchen. We've tried to beautify it with a cheap rolling cart and some tins and things on the back, but it is what it is.
My old bunk bed ladder from when I was a kid comes in handy as a cute piece of decor, and a way to display some artwork. Ignore the Christmas lights.
And last but not least as far as visual 'appeal' (clutter) goes, my bedroom! I purposefully did not take a picture of the whole thing because it is MESSY. I try to explain it away by taking advantage of my 'creative' nature, but it's pretty messy all the same. Don't you just love my white desk from Target? That stool was thrifted, and the hope chest is an antique from my grandmother.
My gorgeous floor from a few weeks ago. That doily-thing is now hanging in the corner of the ceiling by my desk, and most of the other stuff is picked up. Or spread out to a different area of the floor.
There you have it! I'll do a more comprehensive tour later, but this is what it is for now. Thanks for walking through with me! What are your favorite ways to decorate a little apartment?
