I've been working hard over the last month and this next month to prepare for my first 'gallery' showing at Apotheca Flowers & Tea Shoppe in Goffstown. I have never before displayed my craft in gallery form, and am getting a bit nervous! Not only do I have to come up with a name for the show, but I also have to create new artwork, pull it all together in a cohesive form, and be present at an opening reception hosted by Apotheca. I suppose that even though I've been creating for a while, this is a bit like my debut into the world of textile art. Or at least the in-person world - I've displayed my work online and in magazines many times before, and my lamps are hanging on display in Chicago for all to see. All this to give you a few embroidery glimpses in preparation for my show! I will try to take photos of my work, and perhaps get a nice photo of me in there somewhere to show you. In addition to installing my artwork and being part of the opening reception, I will also be teaching a weaving workshop to introduce participants to the basics of simple weaving. I have never taught a workshop before, so it should be an adventure!
If you live in the area, stop by Apotheca to view my work on August 1! Each piece will be available for purchase, either separately or grouped together as a single artform. Support local art and business!
